Decay Factor
"Decomposition and decay are the yin to the yang of growth." - Unkown
Decay factor will take input from each of the parameters of nBook. Fulcrum will have a decay algorithm that will be a factor of several parameters that can have a positive (depreciate the decay score of nBook) or negative (appreciate the decay of nBook) impact on the decay. Higher Decay score will fetch more price in the market.
Factors having a positive impact on the decay of nBooks:
Ownership history – Ownership history will be a crucial factor in deciding the decay of a nBook. Just like a physical book whose decay rate depends upon how many readers had owned it in the past, the ownership history will specify a certain decay score to the nBook based on its ownership history.
Read time – Reading a physical book increases its wear and tear and thus impacts its monetary value in the second-hand physical book market. Fulcrum will mimic the same feature by tracking the read time of nBook.
Factors having a negative impact on nBook’ s decay:
Edition – First edition nBook will have a negative impact on price, i.e., if the nBook is the first edition of the title, its decay rate will be slow. Also, with time the edition score will supersede over decay factors to mimic the rare/antique collections.
Add-on values – Added value such as title being covered into a motion art (movies and/or web-series) will have a negative impact on decay of nBook and appreciate the price of all the nBooks of that title.
Premium Ownership – If a particular nBook has been owned by any celebrity or famous personality, it will have a negative impact on the decay of nBook and will again appreciate the price of that nBook.
