Fulcrum™
"Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world. " — Archimedes
All copies of eBooks are similar looking and can be exchanged amongst each other i.e., they are fungible. The NFT (Non-fungible tokens) technology gives each object a unique identifier, two NFT copies of the same eBook can be made differently by setting parameters that will have a different value for each copy. In addition to NFT, Nalnda will add an algorithm to the NFT eBooks, i.e., nBooks.
While it might appear that giving an eBook a feature of a physical book is a farce and not required, this property will be the building block of the e-content eco-system that Nalnda aims to build. Two physical copies of the same book will never fetch the same price in the secondhand book market. Depending on the condition of a particular book the price is set, and it goes on decreasing as the condition of the book is no longer attractive and cannot find a suitable buyer. This unique property gives way to a new copy of the book to enter the market.
In the eBook marketplace, if the book doesn’t decay after a certain point of time, its secondhand sale will clot the market and will lead to low volume in the sale of new copies. Fulcrum provides the solution to this clot. It will also provide additional features to the eBook eco-system which is not possible currently:
Healthy secondhand marketplace for nBooks
Robust facility to lend a book that doesn’t impact the sale of original books in the long term.
Considering each copy will be different not just in terms of ownership but also in terms of usage, eBook collectors would be able to run a competitive library or bookstore of their own.
